One practice that we do at our office is focused towards out of state transfers. Most often those people are moving her for a job change of some sort. we use that to pivot to IRA by asking about their current 401k. That seems to be a good time to bring it up.
Also on thsoe transfers we set an appointment with them to come back in the office in 30 days to speak with the agent. this is meant to make sure the transfer went through correctly and to re-visit financial services needs and life ins needs
