He went to the hospital last week with chest pains and found out he has lung cancer in the right lung for sure and possibly in the left.  It's not new, been growing for a while.

They are originally from New Orleans and yes they lost EVERYTHING in the hurricane and moved to East Texas to stay.  Now this.

He's going thru scans & tests to see how far it's spread and what his options (if any)are for treatment.

Please pray for him and the family.  Cheryl (my bf) & her husband have 4 kids & works full time.  Her Mom has Azlheimers and now with the Dad having cancer she's going to be stretched to the limits physically & emotionally.

He had some tests last week and meeting with a lung specialist today.  Waiting on test results still.  It doesn't look good.

Thanks for asking...

Teresa,

Sorry to hear about this. I will definitely keep all of you in my thoughts and put him on the prayer list at church. I hope the results come out better than hoped! For our prayer lists I'd like to put his first name if you will allow me and city he lives in. I know it is hard to go through things like this and wish you all the strength to get through it.

Well a decision has been made.  I don't know if I agree with it, but it's not for me to agree or disagree and I can understand why he is making this decision.

They got more news yesterday that he also has colon cancer.  The lung doctors were wanting to do surgery to see IF they could remove the cancer in the lungs.  We all know that if they open him up and find out they can't get it all, they'll just close him up with out doing anything causing the cancer to spread like wildfire.

He has decided to cancel all his appointments and not do the surgery.  They are going to sell their 2 br home and buy one big enough for my bf & her family to live with them.  That way when he is gone the Mom will have a home & family to take care of her.

He & his wife are going to travel and enjoy however much time he has left.  They are both in their 80's and he doesn't want to spend whatever time he has in a hospital undergoing surgeries & chemo treatments and end up dying in a hospital.

Keep them in your prayers.  Thank you.

My father chose the same route. He was diagnosed in 1997 and lived until 2001. He didn't want to do anything that doctors wanted him to do. I think I felt the same with you on it all, but now looking back...His happiness during those last few years of his life were wonderful to see. He seemed happier then than he ever was.

Your b/f family is lucky they are all sticking together and I hope they enjoy what time he has left and get alot of life out of everything they do from here on out. I know it's hard to watch them make this decision, but maybe that means he's at peace with everything?

I will keep him on our prayer list and my prayers at night. Please let us know if you need anything or can do anything for you during this difficult time.

Kelly
